About Project Leadership mentoring
The Project Leadership mentoring program is a community partnership that works to weave the dreams, hopes and futures of our community’s most precious resource – young people. This school-based mentoring program matches outstanding community volunteers with local Twenty-first Century Scholars to encourage and guide them throughout their academic high school careers. Project Leadership awards mentorships to scholars during their freshmen year of high school. Mentors commit to a minimum of a one-year relationship with the student.
The mentorships are available to freshmen in each of the public high schools in Delaware and Grant Counties.
Currently, Project Leadership serves over 200 mentees. Mentors and students have spent hundreds of hours together as they meet in school libraries, cafeterias and hallways where mentors encourage and students sometimes, too, become teachers.
