Become A Mentee
Project Leadership awards mentorships to Grant County Twenty-first Century Scholars who are high school freshmen. Students may apply as early as their eighth-grade year and must submit an application and sign a contract (see forms below). Students are matched with a community volunteer who meets the student at school up to one hour each week during a study hall, lunch or before or after school. Scholars who are awarded benefits receive:
- Weekly encouragement from a community member who works to help students stay true to their Twenty-first Century Scholars pledges
- An advocate, in the form of a mentor, who can help students in focusing on improving their academics.
- A portfolio kit as a gift to track their high school progress. Mentors coach students through the creation of the student portfolio, which scholars can use for future college applications and in job interviews.
- Invitations to periodic support sessions throughout the year.
