Measuring Student Learning:

Formative Assessments

  • Observe student participation during the Gimme Ten activity and class discussion about the meaning of the word college and the variety of postsecondary education and training options.

  • Monitor student progress as groups research their assigned postsecondary credential, providing guidance on locating accurate information and organizing research.

  • Confer with student groups as they prepare their presentations, offering feedback on content accuracy, collaboration, and communication.

  • Review student participation during group presentations and class discussion, ensuring students can distinguish among the different types of postsecondary credentials and their associated career pathways.

Summative Assessments

  • Completed "Degree Options Research" sheet

  • Group presentation on an assigned postsecondary credential

  • Identification of careers, costs, program length, and educational opportunities associated with the assigned credential

  • Comparison of multiple postsecondary education and training pathways

  • Portfolio submission of the completed "Degree Options Research" sheet

  • Researching and organizing information about an assigned postsecondary credential.

  • Presenting accurate information about careers, educational requirements, costs, and opportunities associated with their assigned credential.

  • Comparing multiple postsecondary education pathways and recognizing that different credentials can lead to successful careers.
