Lesson 4.3 - Choosing Classes, Earning Credits
Assessment

Measuring Student Learning:

Formative Assessments

  • Observe student participation during the Risk vs. Reward discussion and class conversation about the benefits and challenges of advanced coursework.

  • Monitor student progress as they explore the high school course guide, providing guidance as they identify Honors, Dual Credit, and Advanced Placement (AP) courses that align with their interests and goals.

  • Confer with students as they complete the "SWOT Analysis" sheet, offering feedback as they identify personal strengths, potential challenges, available supports, and opportunities related to advanced coursework.

  • Review student participation during partner discussions, ensuring students can explain why they selected particular courses and how those choices support their current educational and career goals.

Summative Assessments

  • Completed "SWOT Analysis" sheet

  • Identification of three advanced courses that currently align with the student's interests and goals

  • Evaluation of personal strengths, opportunities, challenges, and supports related to advanced coursework

  • Participation in partner discussion explaining course selections

  • Portfolio submission of the completed "SWOT Analysis" sheet
