Measuring Student Learning:

Formative Assessments

  • Observe student participation during the Spot the Leader activity and class discussion about professionalism, credentials, and industry certifications.

  • Monitor student progress as they explore the high school course guide, providing guidance as they locate career pathway programs and industry certifications related to their interests.

  • Confer with students as they complete the "Post-Secondary Readiness – Certifications" sheet, offering feedback as they identify certifications, career pathways, and careers associated with those credentials.

  • Review student participation during the reflection and class discussion, ensuring students can explain how industry certifications contribute to career readiness and fulfill Indiana's Post-Secondary Readiness Graduation Pathway.
     

Summative Assessments

  • Completed "Post-Secondary Readiness – Certifications" sheet

  • Identification of a career pathway program that currently aligns with the student's interests and career goals

  • Research and documentation of multiple industry certifications available through the high school

  • Explanation of how certifications support career readiness and future educational opportunities

  • Portfolio submission of the completed "Post-Secondary Readiness – Certifications" sheet
     

Evidence of Learning

Students demonstrate mastery by:

  • Explaining the purpose of industry certifications and their role in Indiana's Post-Secondary Readiness Graduation Pathway.

  • Identifying high school career pathway programs that currently align with their interests and future goals.

  • Researching industry certifications and describing the careers and opportunities they support.

  • Applying information from the high school course guide to identify educational pathways that lead to recognized industry credentials.

  • Recognizing how certifications can strengthen career readiness while expanding postsecondary education and employment opportunities.
