Measuring Student Learning:

Formative Assessments

  • Observe student participation during the commercial analysis activity and class discussion about the elements of effective advertising.

  • Monitor student progress as groups research assigned career pathway programs, providing guidance on locating accurate information and identifying the key benefits of each program.

  • Confer with student groups as they complete the "Commercial Checklist" sheet, offering feedback on audience awareness, organization, creativity, accuracy, and persuasive communication.

  • Review student participation during planning, rehearsals, and collaborative work sessions, ensuring all group members contribute meaningfully to the development and presentation of the commercial.
     

Summative Assessments

  • Completed "Commercial Checklist" sheet

  • Completed group commercial promoting a high school career pathway program

  • Group presentation of the commercial

  • Commercial demonstrating accurate information, effective communication, creativity, and persuasive techniques

  • Evidence of collaboration and meaningful participation by all group members

  • Portfolio submission of the completed "Commercial Checklist" sheet
     

Evidence of Learning

Students demonstrate mastery by:

  • Researching and organizing accurate information about a high school career pathway program.

  • Applying the key elements of effective advertising to create a persuasive and informative commercial.

  • Collaborating effectively with peers to plan, develop, rehearse, and present a group project.

  • Communicating information clearly through engaging verbal, visual, and creative presentation techniques.

  • Demonstrating an understanding of how high school career pathway programs can support future educational and career opportunities.
